Between August 27 and September 11, the continental tournament is planned to be played in the T20 format.

Reports: Sri Lanka will host the 2022 Asia Cup

With only one Test remaining on their month-long tour of the island nation—which is experiencing political unrest and the worst economic crisis in its history—Australia is currently playing host to them for a multi-format series.

It is believed that Sri Lanka will continue to host the biannual event despite the country’s tensions after receiving approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The groupings and schedule for the competition have not yet been formally announced by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

India vs Pakistan will play at the Asia Cup 2022 on August 28.

A Sri Lankan journalist claims that Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka will compete in one group, while India and Pakistan will be matched in another. The writer also claimed that India and Pakistan’s explosive confrontation would happen on August 28. The victor of the qualifying round will join the two teams.

On October 23, India and Pakistan will also square off in a T20 World Cup 2022 match at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), which can accommodate almost 100,000 spectators.

After opening the online counter for general ticket allocations, the official ICC website for ticket sales almost fell offline.

After 2,00,000 tickets were already sold during the pre-sale period for the India-Pakistan match slated for October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the general ticket allocations were exhausted.

According to the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 calendar, the competition will run from October 16, 2022, through November 13, 2022, with Sri Lanka vs Namibia serving as the opening match. It is noteworthy that the tickets for one of the biggest cricket rivalries in the world, India vs Pakistan,  were sold out within five minutes of going on sale. The highest anticipation for the game stems from Pakistan’s 10-wicket victory over India at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 last year.

There are still plenty of options for fans to obtain seats for all remaining fixtures in the general public sale, even though over 800,000 spectators are anticipated to witness the international showcase for men’s T20 cricket when it visits Australia for the first time.

“The response from the fans has been fantastic, and we’re proud of the fact we were able to reward our fans who purchased tickets to the postponed event in 2020 and those who registered early with us to get priority access to tickets in the pre-sale,” said ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Local Organising Committee CEO Michelle Enright.

Between October 16 and November 13, 2022, Australia will host the Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be played at seven different locations: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Geelong, Hobart, and Perth. For the same national reach as the postponed 2020 event, a total of 45 matches will be played in Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.

India vs Pakistan Head to Head

When Pakistan toured India for a five-match Test series in 1952, the two teams first came together. The series was won 2-1 by the hosts. Since then, there have been several Test, ODI, and T20I encounters between the two nations.

However, throughout time, as a result of political tensions and numerous wars between the two countries, cricket deteriorated as both sides were instructed to cut all contact with each other in the sport.

As the India-Pakistan bilateral series is now not possible due to political issues between the two nations, it will be thrilling moments for the supporters of both teams to see two exciting matches this year.

In the history of the World Cup, Pakistan’s victory over India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 marked their first victory over the Men in Blue.

India and Pakistan have faced off against each other 200 times at the international level so far, with Pakistan outperforming India in Tests and ODIs.
